Sheepshead Bite Strong Around Docks and Structure

The sheepshead bite has been strong lately around the docks and structure throughout New Smyrna Beach, and recent trips with Reel Deal Fishin’ Charters have been producing some quality fish

On this trip, the crew stayed patient and worked their baits tight to the pilings where sheepshead like to hang. That approach paid off with a great catch and steady action once the bite got dialed in.

Sheepshead are well known for their light, subtle bite. It often takes a little patience and the right feel to connect with them, but once anglers figure it out the action can come quickly.

The docks, bridges, and other structure around the Indian River Lagoon continue to hold good numbers of these fish this time of year, making it one of the best seasonal targets for anglers visiting the New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach area.

Not only are sheepshead fun to catch, but they are also some of the best table fare around. When the bite lines up like this, it makes for a great day on the water and an even better meal afterward.

If you’re looking to experience the local bite for yourself, now is a great time to get out on the water with Capt. Chad and Reel Deal Fishin’ Charters.
