Sheepshead Heating Up Around Bridges and Structure
The sheepshead bite has been heating up around the bridges and structure throughout New Smyrna Beach and nearby Port Orange. Recent trips with Reel Deal Fishin’ Charters have been producing steady action, with plenty of solid keeper fish coming over the rail.
Live shrimp and fiddler crabs have been the go to bait, especially when worked tight to bridge pilings and dock structure where sheepshead tend to stack up. Anglers have been finding consistent bites throughout the tide changes, which has kept rods bending for much of the trip.

These fish are well known for their subtle bite and strong fight once hooked. For many anglers, learning to detect that light tap and set the hook at the right moment is part of the fun.
Trips like these have been especially great for families and first time anglers visiting the area. With steady action and plenty of chances to hook up, it is a great opportunity to learn how to target sheepshead while enjoying a day on the water

Fishing around the Indian River Lagoon continues to provide solid opportunities this time of year, making spring one of the best seasons to get out and experience the inshore fishing around New Smyrna Beach.
If you are looking to get in on the bite, now is a great time to book a trip and experience the local fishing with Capt. Chad and Reel Deal Fishin’ Charters. 🎣
